Ground preparation

The part nobody sees, and everything else depends on

Levels, sub-base and drainage decide whether a garden works. Get them wrong and you get puddles, sinking slabs and lawns that sit wet all winter. This is the stage we refuse to rush.

Excavated patio base with compacted hardcore and sharp sand being levelled

What we can do

Excavation and muck away

Digging out to the depth the finished build-up needs, with spoil loaded and removed from site.

Levelling and re-grading

Re-shaping sloping or uneven plots, including terracing and retaining where the change in level needs holding.

Sub-bases

Type 1 MOT laid and compacted in layers to the right depth for foot traffic or vehicle loads.

Drainage

Soakaways, channel drains, land drains and falls set to move water away from the property.

  4. 04Install drainage and any retaining structures
  5. 05Lay and compact the sub-base, then check falls before the finish goes down
